Team Building Event at Glamorgan Cricket Ground

Glamorgan We've just delivered a team building event for a Company at the new multi million pound redeveloped Glamorgan Cricket Ground. The revamp is in prepartion to host one of the Ashes Tests to take place in the summer of 2009. Not only has the pitch and all the grandstands been relaid and rebuilt but they have also built a new indoor cricket academy. This is a great space for indoor team and corporate events. This is exactly what we used it for.

This was a large group of 80 people who were having a one day corporate meeting on the site. Therefore a large space was required. We used the indoor academy in case of inclement weather (rare in Wales we know but you can't be too careful). The client wanted to ensure that during the team builidng activities everyone was comfortable so indoors it was.

It's certainly a venue we will will seek to use again team builidng events, corporate events and meetings. It worked really well particularly if the weather is an issue.

World Rally Championship Wales GB

S8000495 Sebastien Loeb on Sunday's in the  Wales Rally GB won his fourth successive world title.

The Frenchman was third at the start of the final day in Wales rally GB in his Citroen C4 and that was more than enough to win the drivers' crown again.

S8000494 After six forest stages plus a short stage in the Cardiff Millennium Stadium watched by almost 27,000, leader Mikko Hirvonen's advantage was 35.5 seconds. Call of the Wild attended as VIP guests and these are some of the photos we took on the day - We'll get better with practice

England Lose To South Africa in Rugby World Cup

England England lost the Webb Ellis trophy to South Africa as they were beaten 15-6 in an exciting  match in the Stade de France in Paris. The Springboks won thanks to four penalties while England's points came from the reliable boot of Jonny Wilkinson. In this tight game England thought they had scored a try through Mark Cueto. However after ana gonising wait whilst the TV match official reviewed the replays he decided it wasn't a try because Ceuto, albeit by the closest margin, had touched the line with his toe before grounding the ball.
Nevertheless this was a great performance from a team that had lost 36-0 to South Africa a few weeks ago. So what lessons can be learnt :-
1. Have a game plan and stick to it. For business this means having a business plan or marketing strategy around which all others decisons can be hinged.
2. Self-belief. There will be set backs along the way but learn from them. If you believe what you are doing and in the team around you then look what can be acheived. This is important at the Managerial level. If you can instill this level of confidence and self-belief in your team thenthe performance will follow.
3. The sum is greater than the parts - Each team member brings something different to the table and can make a valuable contribution to  achieveing your sales target or overall objective.

Lewis Hamilton Pipped at the Post

Lewis_hamilton Well so close and yet so far for Lewis Hamilton in his first season with F1. After watching the race I think, engine problems aside, he made a serious error at the start and through the impetuousity of youth nearly spun off trying to regain his position after being passed by Alonso. That said what a first season! However it does illustrate that no matter how talented, and this boy is talented, new talent needs to be managed to ensure the individuals don't self destruct .

This is why in our field you cannot underestimate the importance of graduate training programmes. Companies take a chance on what they feel are the most talented individuals in an increasingly large graduate pool. Even when satisfied that you have a rigorous selection process to choose the best this does not guarantee success. There will still be a need to manage the talent and assimilate the individuals into the Company. For more information visit our graduate training programme page.
