ACTOR ENJOYS OFFICE OUTING
Office star Mackenzie Crook stepped from behind his desk to get a soaking in the Swansea Valley this week. The actor, best known for his portrayal of the Territorial Army- obsessed assistant manager Gareth Keenan in The Office alongside Ricky Gervais, was in Abercrave on Tuesday to film scenes for his forthcoming film Abraham's Point.
McKenzie plays the character of Comet Snape, a man from London who comes to West Wales as he struggles to overcome a family tragedy that has haunted him since his youth.
The film, written and directed by Wyndham Price, is one of four that has won £800,000 backing from the Film Agency for Wales.
McKenzie, who also appears in the Pirates of the Caribbean sequel alongside Johnny Depp, followed fellow Hollywood stars Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller, who have also been filming in Wales.
Mr Price, whose film will be unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival, said Abraham's Point is a classic tale with an epic conclusion.
"Although often funny, the film has the feel of a thriller and is an emotionally gripping story that results in liberation," he said.
"The elements of thriller, western and comedy, along with the incredible emotional instability of the main character, were what drew Mackenzie Crook to the film, which is made up of a fantastic cast of rogues and angels."
