The Future is Bright the Future is Green

 We achieved the Green Dragon Level 2 Environmental Award in 2005. This demonstrates our commitment to protecting the environment. We have developed our training centre into an eco-centre. Electricity is sourced from green energy sources, water is from a natural spring rather than mains, all rubbish and food waste is recycled. Water saving devices are installed in showers, hand basins and wc’s. All energy use is monitored. All groups are educated and informed of this eco-approach with the idea of them taking something of this ethos back with them.

Our aim is for the centre to carbon neutral by the end of 2009. We have planted 2,000 trees on our farm to offset our reducing carbon emissions. We have also started using vegetable oil in our company vehicles. In 2009 it is proposed to replace oil central heating with a wind turbine/biofuel. Water usage reduced through careful use. Fuel costs reduced through use of vegetable oil. Vegetable oil purchased anyway for catering for the groups so no extra cost. Low energy bulbs, lecture to customers about energy conservation eg turning off lights. To reduce oil usage turned down thermostats on radiators. We no longer supply plastic bottles of water each day but rather supply each individual with a branded reusable water bottle at the beginning of the event which they can refill each day and also take home and use with their packed lunch. Eliminated number of plastic bottles used by 3,320 plastic bottles a year.

New Website

Our newly revamped website was launched in January the results from which are extremely encouraging. This site covers leadership development, team development and team building, management training people development.

It is a very comprehensive site and also contains video testimonials from some of past and current clients. These are interesting to view to see what benefits these companies got from working with us.

Call of the Wild Short Listed fro Another Award

2009 has started where we left off in 2008 with us being shortlised for yet another award. In December 2008 we were finalists in the Barclays Bank Outstanding Supplier Awards. We have now just been informed that we have been shortlisted for the Swansea Bay Business Awards 2009 in the Training and Development Category. This is a regional award local to our training centre and head office.

It is gratifying to know that theimportance we have placed on developing our staff has been recognised. We see staff development as being an integral part of achieving a companys business objectives. If you have a well motivated and skilled workforce who are working towards the same goals then you can a achieve what you set out to. Without this one team ethos it is very difficult to achieve your business objectives.

Banks and Bonuses

After the Parliamentary enquiries the last few days into the Banks and their part in bringing about the  global financial crisis I fail to see how they can justify the payment of massive bonuses to their staff. Just look at the figures:-

RBS Losses:£28bn  Bail-out: £20bn   Bonuses:£1bn

HBOS Losses:£5bn  bail-out:£11.5bn  Bonuses:£4.5m

It seems as if this crisis was fuelled by an endemic culture of incentivised risk taking. The bigger the risk the bigger the reward. All this taking place in an arena with only minimal internal and external regulation of the markets.How can individuals now be rewarded for not only bankrupting their banks but also the Country? Without the bail-out from the Government these individuals wouldn't be in work anyway.

Call of the Wild have this week been informed that we have been awarded  the prestigious Investors In People Standard. The Investors in People Standard is a business improvement tool designed to advance an organisation’s performance through its people. Developed in 1990 by a partnership of leading businesses and national organisations, the Standard helps organisations to improve performance and realise objectives through the management and development of their people
